one man's treasures is another man's...

It's amazing how many cool things New yorkers throw out. These are some of the treasures i've found on the curb.

Cool teal typewriter Damian found in our neighborhood!

Strange lil painted dude we found outside of a Chelsea gallery. I think it's street art, it might be worth a bunch some day.

Huge yellow arrow we found in Chelsea. We had to hail a cab to take this one home. Maybe we can use it for a photo shoot one day!

I always call Damian eagle eyes. He spotted these chairs while we were driving through our neighborhood. They now reside in my living room!

Other things we have found... One night Damian and i found crates of records on the curb in St. Mark's Place. We ended up with 125 lp's... Damian found a whole box of expired polaroid film... mannequins ... All i'm saying is "keep your eyes peeled"!
There are many treasures to be found and people are way too lazy to get rid of things properly.

I left my heart in arizona...

I hate when vacations come to an end. You get use to your new environment and the people around you. Though your ready to go back home you kind of have that feeling you would get on Sunday nights when you were little. Your weekend is over and you have to go back to school. Anyways, thats how it makes me feel. It's ok, I have a feeling i will be having more Arizona adventures in my future.

adventures in pizza making

Another day in amazing, relaxing and warm Arizona.I must admit, I'm a little surprised at how much i like this place. Though i can't seem to get use to getting shocked by everything i touch and the dry air is a little tough on the skin. Today we made pizzas in the stone pizza oven Mr. and Mrs. G. have in the back yard. We got the pizza dough from a local pizzeria, rolled out the dough ourselves and added tons of delicious toppings. I think our pizza was the best... caramelized onions, sundried tomatoes, kalamata olives and a sprinkle of cheese.

Chuck showing off his high school pizza throwing skills.

Honorable mention goes to Nick and Sarah G. for their fig, caramelized onion, gorgonzola pizza.

coyote cup 2007

The Genuardi clan has a Thanksgiving / Arizona tradition called the Coyote cup. It started off as a golf competition and this years has grown to include golf, tennis, thanksgiving dinner and table settings and costumes ( my fave).

I was the official Coyote Cup photographer cause i can't play golf.

Next was the tennis competition. Once again i don't do tennis but i did wear a cute tennis outfit.

Damian catching some air...

We made up some costume points with our impromptu pool side outfits. I'm wearing one of my mom's old dresses which she bought in Jamaica in the early 8o's...amazing!

The Coyote Cup honor went to Catherine.

tofurky day

Damian and i were in charge of the table decorations this year. We decided to make these place cards with everyones initials on them and then tie them to a gourd or corn husk. Everyone was impressed with the table setting and i must thank Martha Stewart's craft line for the stamps and rub on letters.

D is for Damian...

Here they are all ready to go...

The lovely Thanksgiving table...

Joy made these adorable menus...

I made the Tofurky...

The Thanksgiving spread. I had succotash for the first time and have a brand new appreciation for Brussels Sprouts...

Then we enjoyed some fine cognac by the fire...

Then we played some music with the kiddies... What a perfect day...

desert rose

Today we had fun with nature. We took walks in the desert and did some off-roading. Our Mamiya came along for the ride and we took some great photos.

majestic saguaros

Then we drove around the desert and got lost on some steep, winding, mountain roads. We found this area where there had been a desert fire and took some photos with our Mamiya.

My first Arizona sunset. Damian's parents said it wasn't a good one but i thought she was just fine...

Arizona Vacation....

Damian's parents were nice enough to invite me to spend Thanksgiving with the family in Arizona. I had never been to Arizona and was way excited. This week in NYC was the coldest so far this winter and i was more than happy to flee the gloomy cold weather and embrace the warm, dry, desert air. First impressions of Arizona... dry, warm, blue skies, rocks, mountains and cacti everywhere. Being a native Floridian, i get such a kick out of the west coast. Miami is so flat, if you see a hill, It's probably made out of garbage. Yep, Arizona is quite beautiful. Plus, swimming in a outdoor pool in November is priceless.

you say tomato...

These are the last of our "little shop of horrors" tomatoes. Seriously, we bought this tiny tomato plant to see what would happen and it's been giving us and our friends lovely tomatoes all summer long. It grew so big and became a bully in our garden, trying to steal all the sunshine and soil from the other plants. We picked these off last week. It was starting to get too cold for the little guys. I'm going to make a big batch of yummy tomato sauce with these. I picked some off the plant this morning, resilient little suckers!

Don't Change...

Could this song and video be more Amazing?! All that running around and those great outfits! Then there's Michael Hutchinson. He's the first boy who made my insides tingle when i was a little girl. I remember it well, it was the "Need You Tonight" video and i had never seen anyone like him, Slithering with his long hair. Anyways, watch this video and enjoy.

protect ya neck...

Last winter i walked into this really cute store in my neighborhood and saw these cute knitted neck warmers. The price tag wasn't really cute, they were $65.00! So i decided to knit some up myself. I've been knitting them up for all my girlfriends and they love them. I think they come in handy, sometimes you don't want to wear a scarf and these look great under a jacket and can even enhance your outfit, plus , they really keep your neck warm.

I will take a better picture of them later. I was just out the door when i took this one.
P.S.
I took this photo with photo booth feature on my new lovely 24" Imac! I am truly in love with this machine!

Everyday is halloween

Damian and i take Halloween seriously and think its a whole lot of fun.

Costume #1
Dorothy and a Dj Nerd for the Maritime on Saturday.

Costume #2
Damian made this skull mask out of paper mache and we wore it while we gave out candy
to the kiddies in the neighborhood.

Costume #3
This was our Halloween costumes. Day of the Dead novios and i think we pulled it off quite nicely! Damian made the little paper mache skulls we wore around our necks and i made my veil and found the wedding dress at the salvation army on bedford. I thought it would be a nightmare trying to find a gown and found this one right away and it fit perfect. The costume was a hit at the parade and also a hit with the japanese tourist.
